One of my absolute favourite “healthy” deserts is so easy to make that I don’t even have proper directions to share – it just sort of always works out. Quinoa Puff Bars are made with quinoa puffs (obvi), organic almond butter, real maple syrup and 70% + organic dark chocolate. Quinoa has a ton of benefits: it’s alkaline-forming, high in protein, low in calories and gluten-free. The organic almond butter adds more protein to the mix, the maple syrup binds it all together in a sweet way and the dark chocolate contributes antioxidants. There is zero processed sugar in this…

I’m halfway done the cleanse! Woohoo! Days 11 and 12 were emotional for me, but I’m feeling good. At this time during the process it’s recommended to write a list of ten things you absolutely love. Love is a magnetic force that attracts and infinate amount of goodness into our cells. Write the list when you feel the happiness and love in your heart, and refer back to it on a day that’s a little tough. Gratitude is the attitude and the list may put what’s bothering you into perspective at a later date. Today my list is: I love…

A little story to preface why I made my own granola and cereal this weekend. Matt: “How much was your organic gluten-free granola thing from the health food store?” Me: “Uh, 10 bucks I think” Matt: “…So if you buy that every week you’ll have spent over $550 on granola this year.” Me: “!!!!” Oh hells no. That’s a few outfits at Club Monaco right there. So this weekend’s project was to make my own. It was very easy, it is very delicious, it’s healthier than store-bought, and baking it makes the house smell good so triple bonus right there…

That colossal amount of nuts and dried fruit is for the week, not just that day

As a gal who loves to train on my lunch breaks during the work week, my appetite can be quite voracious. I eat more often than my 6’4 fiance. Seriously. Then a bowl of organic or home made gluten-free cereal or granola with almond milk. 1st SNACK A vegetable and fruit smoothie 2nd SNACK Berries GYM Aerobics, dancing, weigh training, yoga, whatever makes me happy that day! Followed by…

Week one of the three-week detox is complete! Woot woot! The first time I did the 21-day cleanse back in September I had a much harder time. On days two and three I suffered from a caffeine withdrawal headache that lasted 48 hours NON-STOP. I was very irritable and moody on days three and seven, especially because by then I was craving a prosciutto and cheese thin crust pizza and a bottle of wine, which I fantasized having all for myself, followed by a piece of decadent chocolate cake and a glass of Porto…er, yeah, what was I saying again?…

I have at least four books offering juice and smoothie recipes but I keep coming back to this wonderful green juice every morning: – Celery – Kale stem and leaves (the stem has more juice) – Cucumber – Broccoli stem and florets (the stem has more juice) – Green apple – Half of a lemon I use the Breville 5 speed Juice Fountain and I really like it. You may start hearing the voice of negativity from friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances about why you are detoxing or why you’ve adopted a vegan diet or even why you’re not drinking at a party. Kris Carr says: “Don’t let the judgment of others who are less supportive of or puzzled (and maybe threatened) by your new lifestyle bring you down. Understand that they just don’t understand. Reassure them that you’re happy and getting healthier. Do it nicely, with love. ” We’ve been taught by respected authorities like teachers, parents and even doctors that eating meat, dairy, wheat and even…
